Brock Township Public Library Board

The Brock Township Public Library Board is a Canadian nonprofit organization responsible for governing and overseeing public library services within Brock Township, Ontario. Operating under the legal framework of the Public Libraries Act of Ontario, the Board ensures the provision of comprehensive, effective, and efficient public library services that meet the needs of the local community and promote community engagement.

Governance and Structure

The Board is a legally incorporated entity that exercises authority to make policies and govern the library’s affairs. Its members are appointed in accordance with the Public Libraries Act and include municipal appointees, a council representative, and the Chief Executive Officer of the library. The Board members serve fixed terms and collaborate to provide strategic leadership and oversight. As of the 2023–2026 term, the Board includes:

The Board holds monthly meetings, generally on the third Monday, which are open to the public and currently conducted virtually. A Diversity, Equity & Inclusion sub-committee also meets periodically to focus on inclusive initiatives and programming[1].

The Brock Township Public Library is dedicated to being a dynamic center of interconnection that engages and inspires the diverse community it serves. The Board's mission emphasizes providing public library services that reflect community needs and contribute to building community capacity.

Its vision positions the library as a vibrant, responsive, and collaborative leader providing enrichment throughout the community and beyond. The Board seeks to embrace innovative ideas, foster strong relationships, and deliver inclusive library governance that supports this vision[4].

The Brock Township Public Library Board oversees a variety of services, including:

  • Delivery of diverse library programming, such as STEM challenges, creative crafts, interactive storytimes, and workshops
  • Special initiatives like the Library Shakespeare Club and access to cultural passes, including those for the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)
