Young Women's Christian Association of Banff
The Young Women's Christian Association of Banff (YWCA Banff) is a Canadian nonprofit organization providing support services and housing in Banff, Alberta. The organization began as part of the YWCA of Calgary in 1913, offering holiday accommodations for working women. By 1912, its Banff Chalet served as a dedicated retreat[1][2]. In 1987, YWCA Banff acquired the former Banff Mineral Springs Hospital for $1, repurposing it into affordable co-ed housing and establishing the Bow Valley Women’s Emergency Shelter (BVWES)[1][2]. The organization became autonomous in 1995 after separating from the Calgary YWCA[1][2].

Programs and Services

YWCA Banff operates under three pillars:
