Ontario Philharmonic

The Ontario Philharmonic is a nonprofit organization and one of the leading regional orchestras in Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 1957 in the city of Oshawa, Durham Region, initially known as the Oshawa Symphony. Over the years, the orchestra has evolved and grown to serve a broader audience across Durham Region, Toronto, and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

In its early years, the orchestra performed under its original name until it underwent name changes in 1995 and 2008. The final name change to Ontario Philharmonic reflected its expanded role and impact across Ontario. Since 2008, the orchestra has been known by this name, symbolizing its growth and commitment to serving a diverse community.

The Ontario Philharmonic's mission is to bring fine orchestral music to residents of Durham Region and beyond, fostering a love for classical music.
