For its first decade, the Fashion History Museum operated without a permanent physical gallery. Instead, it curated traveling exhibitions that toured nationally and internationally, reaching audiences in locations such as Hong Kong and Bahrain. A pilot gallery was briefly operated in a Cambridge, Ontario mall during 2013, attracting nearly 8,000 visitors in less than five months[2].

In June 2015, the museum established a permanent physical presence by opening a 3,000 square foot gallery in a historic, decommissioned post office building in Hespeler, now part of Cambridge, Ontario. The 1929 building’s original features, including terrazzo floors and antique light fixtures, were restored to complement the museum’s atmosphere. A community-funded restoration of the clock above the museum’s entrance highlighted local engagement.
