Carman Mennonite Church began its services and was officially organized in 1945. The community developed from Mennonite families who settled in the area following immigration movements in the 1920s and 1930s. Initially part of a Bergthaler group, the church became a recognized congregation in 1954. It was initially known as the Graysville-Carman congregation before changing its name to the Carman Bergthaler Mennonite Church in 1962. In 2023, the congregation voted to withdraw from Mennonite Church Manitoba and Mennonite Church Canada, effective September 1, 2023. This decision was influenced by differences in views on LGBTQ+ affirmation, which had been a point of contention within the congregation and with the broader Mennonite community. Despite maintaining strong relationships with MC Manitoba, the congregation felt compelled to make this change due to unresolved theological differences[5].
