Halifax NS Down Syndrome Society Our Mission Our mission is to improve lives for persons with Down syndrome and their families through advocacy education and support. The Halifax NS Down Syndrome Society is a volunteer nonprofit organization which acts as a resource to everyone with an interest in Down syndrome in Nova Scotia. We offer information and supports for New Parents of children with Down syndrome. In 2013 the Nova Scotia Down Syndrome Society decided to add the word Halifax to the front of its name to best represent its current range of programming and services.
