Yellowknife Community Foundation
The Yellowknife Community Foundation is a registered Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering impactful giving within Yellowknife and the Northwest Territories (NWT). Established with the primary goal of catalyzing community development through strategic philanthropy, the foundation serves as a pivotal intermediary between donors and community needs.
Mission and Vision
The foundation's mission is to inspire and facilitate significant donations by aligning donor interests with community needs. It achieves this through evidence-based grant making, strategic fundraising, public education, and fostering community relations. Its overarching vision is to create supportive and connected communities.
Activities
The Yellowknife Community Foundation provides grants to various Northwest Territories organizations, supporting a wide range of local initiatives. Additionally, it awards scholarships to deserving Northern students, contributing to their educational development.
Registered Charity Status
With a registered charity number issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), the foundation complies with all legal and administrative requirements, ensuring transparency and accountability. This designation allows donors to receive charitable tax receipts, incentivizing support for the foundation's goals.
Role in the Community
By bridging the gap between community needs and donor philanthropy, the Yellowknife Community Foundation plays a crucial role in enhancing social welfare in the region. Its commitment to community development and student support underscores its position as a key player in promoting a more equitable and sustainable society in the Northwest Territories.
