Jack Millikin Centre, Inc.
Overview

The Jack Millikin Centre, Inc. is a Canadian nonprofit organization located in the boreal forest of northern Saskatchewan. It operates as a charitable organization dedicated to arts and community development, focusing on promoting inclusivity, diversity, reconciliation, joy, community, and wellness through cultural and creative events[1][2].

Mission

The centre aims to provide a sustainable, four-season facility for communities to gather and share memorable experiences. It fosters a vibrant environment for various cultural and ecological events, placing a strong emphasis on community celebration and education[1][3].

History

The idea for the Jack Millikin Centre emerged from discussions between the Ness Creek Music Festival and Ness Core in the early 2000s. These conversations led to a strategy of "horizontal growth," resulting in the establishment of multiple festivals and nonprofit organizations that utilize the site year-round for events, ecological programs, and cultural activities. The need for a year-round facility to accommodate these efforts led to the creation of the Jack Millikin Centre[5].

Funding

The project has received support from major funders including Co-Op Community Spaces, the Enabling Accessibility Fund, Western Diversification, the Windgate Foundation, and Dave and Gloria Chaykowski, in memory of Dallas Chaykowski[1].

Registration

The organization is registered with the Canadian Charity Registration Number 806304812RR0001 and is categorized as a charitable organization with a focus on arts and community benefits[2]. Additionally, it holds a U.S. Employer Identification Number (EIN) despite being based in Canada, indicating its international recognition as a nonprofit[4].
