Mission and Vision

VIRCS's mission is to assist immigrants and refugees in settling and integrating into their new lives through holistic support services tailored to their evolving needs. The organization's vision is to empower newcomers to flourish in their communities with a strong sense of belonging.

Services and Programs
  • Settlement Services: These include assessment, information and referral, adjustment support, and service linking and bridging. VIRCS provides personalized holistic support and life planning for newcomer youth, adults, families, and seniors through both one-on-one and group activities.

  • Enable Child and Youth Program: This program supports over 200 newcomer children, youth, and young adults annually by addressing their academic, social, and emotional settlement needs.

  • Volunteer Program: VIRCS relies on a robust volunteer base to deliver unique programs to clients and their communities. Volunteers contribute a broad range of skills and experiences, enabling VIRCS to offer diverse services.

  • Other Initiatives: VIRCS also offers programs such as the Newcomer Wraparound Support Program, Newcomer Women’s Project, Pathways to Professions, Trades, and Entrepreneurship, Welcome Gardens, ESL, CELPIP Testing, and Anti-Racism Initiatives.

Governance and Structure

VIRCS operates as a registered charity under the Canada Revenue Agency and is governed by an honorary Board of Directors. The organization proudly reflects the diversity of its clientele and staff through its leadership structure.

Impact

On average, VIRCS provides support to over 2,500 immigrants, protected persons, new Canadians, and visible minorities annually. Its services are client-driven and confidential, focusing on empowering newcomers to integrate fully into Canadian society.

Volunteer Engagement

With over 250 annual volunteers, VIRCS leverages community involvement to enhance its programs and reach a broader audience. Volunteers play a crucial role in facilitating the organization's activities, ensuring a rich and diverse set of programs for newcomers.
