Introduction
The Canadian Motorsport Heritage Foundation is a registered not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history and achievements of Canadian motorsports. It is recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and holds the business number 856357660RR0001.
Mission and Purpose
The foundation's primary mission is to honor and recognize the outstanding contributions of individuals and organizations to Canadian motorsports. It achieves this through the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame (CMHF), which was established to celebrate the achievements and legacies of Canadian motorsport personalities, both on and off the track.
Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame
The Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame (CMHF) was officially opened in 1993 and began inducting members that year. The hall of fame honors individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to Canadian motorsports, including drivers, team owners, builders, sponsors, and media contributors. The CMHF has inducted a diverse range of motorsport figures, including those from drag racing, oval track racing, road racing, boat racing, and off-road competition.
Notable Inductees
Over the years, the CMHF has recognized numerous notable figures. These include prominent Canadian drag racing personalities like Bernie Fedderley, Dale Armstrong, and Graham Light. The hall also acknowledges international figures who have made substantial contributions to Canadian motorsports.
Operations and History
The Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame has moved locations several times since its inception, reflecting the challenges of securing sponsorship and community support. Despite these challenges, it has continued to grow and is currently housed within its museum in Toronto's Downsview Park. Recent induction ceremonies have become significant events, often attended by nearly 300 people and featuring fundraising activities such as silent auctions.

As a registered charity, the Canadian Motorsport Heritage Foundation operates in compliance with CRA regulations. Its charitable status allows it to focus on its mission of promoting Canadian motorsport heritage while providing opportunities for supporters to contribute to its cause.
