Robbie's Rainbow
Robbie's Rainbow is a Canadian registered nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health and quality of life for children and families living with digestive diseases, particularly inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The organization operates under the business registration number 849539846RR0001.
Mission and Activities
Since its inception, Robbie's Rainbow has focused on building healthy kids "from the inside out" by providing advocacy, education, and direct assistance to young patients diagnosed with digestive conditions. It aims to ensure access to safe and effective treatments for children between the ages of 0 and 18 living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, especially for those whose treatment costs are not covered under provincial or private health plans. The organization facilitates timely access to critical therapies through partnerships with healthcare providers and institutions, ensuring that financial barriers do not delay necessary care.
Beyond treatment access, Robbie’s Rainbow offers a wide range of educational tools and resources tailored to children, teens, and their families. These include the annual "You, Me and IBD" magazine, which features informative articles written in collaboration with healthcare professionals, personal stories, and practical advice to empower patients in managing their condition. The charity has expanded its focus to support children affected by other digestive diseases such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Celiac disease, and Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE). This broadening of scope enhances support for overlapping conditions and enriches the overall digestive health community.
Programs and Resources
Robbie’s Rainbow has developed innovative tools to build confidence and self-management skills among young patients. For example, it created the Injection Readi-Mat, a practical aid designed to help children and teens organize materials needed for intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, promoting independence in treatment routines.
Patient assistance is provided through healthcare specialists and social workers, with all funding transactions conducted directly between Robbie’s Rainbow and health institutions to safeguard patient privacy and program integrity.
Community and Impact
The organization invests heavily in building an informed and engaged community, aiming to empower children, teens, and their families with knowledge, resources, and support networks. It advocates not only for individual health needs but also for broader awareness and improvements in pediatric digestive healthcare.
Robbie’s Rainbow is recognized as a registered charity by the Canada Revenue Agency and relies on public support and donations to continue its work. Its efforts play an important role in supporting the estimated 7,000 children and teens in Canada living with IBD and related digestive diseases.

Home Over the past ten years Robbies Rainbow has committed itself to building healthy kids from the inside out. Our advocacy and education efforts have ranged from supporting pathways to access safe and effective medicines for children diagnosed with Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis to providing these young patients and their families with the health information they need to make informed decisions about their digestive health and strategies to improve their quality of life. In our next evolution of growth Robbies Rainbow continues to invest in building an informed empowered and engaged community that not only includes children and teens living with Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis but other digestive diseases such as gastroesophageal reflux disease GERD Celiac disease and Eosinophilic Esophagitis EoE. With a focus on these five digestive conditions Robbies Rainbow will broaden its support in providing children teens and families with resources that are easy to understand tools that improve disease management strategies to live beyond ones diagnosis with confidence and advocate for the health needs of our community.
