Tallgrass Ontario

Tallgrass Ontario, also known as the Ontario Tallgrass Prairie and Savanna Association, is a Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of tallgrass prairies and savannas in Ontario. Established in 1999, the organization aims to identify, conserve, manage, and restore these ecosystems primarily in Southern Ontario.

Mission

The mission of Tallgrass Ontario is to focus on the conservation and restoration of tallgrass prairies, savannas, and related ecological communities. This involves working collaboratively with landowners, governments, non-profits, and other stakeholders to achieve these goals. Given that Southern Ontario is a region with significant conservation challenges—such as having a large population and less than 2% of the land in public ownership—Tallgrass Ontario plays a critical role in protecting biodiversity in the area.
