History and Initiatives

Salt and Light Television, the foundation's specialty television network, was launched in July 2003. It was Canada's first national Catholic television station and was established after the 2002 World Youth Day in Toronto. This event inspired the creation of a digital television network that would connect Catholics to their faith through modern media. Salt and Light Television broadcasts 24/7 with 100% Catholic content, commercial-free, and is available on most major cable and satellite television carriers across Canada.

The foundation also operates an internet streaming service called Salt + Light Plus, accessible on various digital platforms such as Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices. It provides a wide range of programming, including televised daily Mass, documentaries, live event coverage, and talk shows, primarily in English, with additional content in French, Italian, and Chinese languages.
