Another way you can help out the local ecosystem is through providing a place for bees to nest which mimic natural landscapes. With increased development these small creatures often have reduced habitat for shelter, so putting a bee house in your backyard will increase the suitable habitat, and provide increased attraction for pollinators to visit your yard and help your gardens. A bee house can be as simple as some hollow reeds or cardboard tubes (between 4-10mm wide holes), stacked and secured together about the size of a bird house.
