Gabriola Health Care Foundation

The Gabriola Health Care Foundation (GHCF) is a Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing primary health care services for the residents and visitors of Gabriola Island, British Columbia. Located on the unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation, the foundation acknowledges the historical health disparities created by colonization and indigenous-specific racism and is committed to addressing these issues through collaboration with local communities.

Mission and Roles

The GHCF's mission is centered around improving health care services by identifying the needs of the community, developing and delivering health care programs, and providing medical facilities and equipment. It works independently or in partnership with qualified Canadian charitable organizations or government bodies to achieve these goals. The centre leases space to various independent health care providers, including the Gabriola Medical Clinic and Island Health, fostering an environment of collaborative care.
