Calcutta Rescue was originally founded by Dr. Jack Preger over 30 years ago. This organization has been recognized for its significant contributions, including winning the Rockefeller Foundation prize as the Best Charity in India (medium size budget category). Calcutta Rescue Canada was registered in 2006 as a Canadian support group for this international effort.

The mission of Calcutta Rescue Canada is to provide assistance to men, women, and children in Kolkata and West Bengal, regardless of caste or religion. This is achieved through several key programs:

Calcutta Rescue Canada - Home Page Registered Charity 86063 2926 RR0001 Henry Becker and volunteers at the 7th Treasures from the Orient Bazaar drawing the winning ballot. Congratulations to Gisele Pharand and Thank you to all who participated and to Ali and Weis Afzal owners of Curry Original for their generous donation of restaurant coupons. We raised over 5000. and are happy to be able again in 2014 to help some of the most destitute in Kolkata.
