17th, June 1957: Farmers Market to Open Farmer's Markets are a type of market dating as far back as the time of the Pharaoh's in Egypt, some 3500 years ago. Hieroglyphics on the walls of crypts in the Valley of Kings in the Lower Nile region depict market days, when items from incense to camels were bartered by early Egyptian farmers. This has been one of the oldest methods known to civilization that enables a food producing farmer to sell or barter with a variation of customers.
