The Douglas Park Community Association

The Douglas Park Community Association (DPCA) is a registered Canadian nonprofit organization operating in conjunction with the Vancouver Park Board to manage and develop community programs at the Douglas Park Community Centre. History

Douglas Park itself was established in 1926, named in commemoration of Sir James Douglas, the first Governor of the Colony of British Columbia. Initially, this area was a logging camp and later a grazing site for elk, followed by the first market garden south of False Creek in 1882. The community centre was constructed in 1964 with a local improvement bylaw, marking the beginning of the DPCA's role in community development.

The DPCA aims to provide high-quality community programs and services that cater to the diverse needs of the local residents.
