Sheffield Baptist Church
Sheffield Baptist Church is a Canadian nonprofit organisation located in the Clayton Park neighborhood of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The church has a rich history and has been active in the region since its roots in early Baptist meetings in the city.
History
The origins of the church's current presence date back to before the construction of its current building in 1986. In 1983, under the leadership of Rev. Lawrence Meade, the church sold its aging property on Robie Street and purchased a new lot on Lincoln Cross. During the construction phase, services were temporarily held at Duc D'Anville School and Fairview United Church. The new church building was dedicated to the glory of God following a week of special services led by Evangelist Dr. Barry Moore from London, Ontario.
Ministry and Leadership
Over the years, the church has been led by various pastors. Notably, Pastor Donkin retired from the ministry in early 2017, and the church welcomed Rev. Matthew Porter later that year. In late 2021, the Porters returned to New Brunswick, and Rev. Dr. Shant Manuel served as an interim pastor before Pastor Nego Pierre-Louis joined in October 2023.
Mission and Activities
Sheffield Baptist Church emphasizes a three-part strategy of worship, walk, and work, guiding all aspects of its activities. The church offers programs and small groups for members to engage in fellowship, praise, and spiritual growth. It continues to serve as a beacon for the Gospel in the community, fostering a place for individuals at any stage of their spiritual journey.
Registration
Sheffield Baptist Church operates as a nonprofit with a Business Registration Number of 119148062RR0001.
