Wilmot Heritage Fire Brigades
The Wilmot Heritage Fire Brigades is a Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoration, maintenance, and preservation of historical firefighting vehicles, equipment, and documents. Founded in 1996 by a group of retired firefighters and local friends from Wilmot Township, the organization aims to promote and educate the public about the heritage of firefighting, with a particular focus on Wilmot Township and the firefighting service in general.
History
The organization was established in 1996 when several retired firefighters and community members came together to save and preserve the valuable artifacts that chronicle the firefighting history of Wilmot Township. Since its inception, the Wilmot Heritage Fire Brigades has grown from a small group of seven retired firefighters to a membership base exceeding 80 individuals passionate about firefighting history.
Collection and Exhibits
The Wilmot Heritage Fire Brigades museum houses one of the finest collections of firefighting artifacts in Canada. Its collection includes eight fire trucks dating back as far as 1936, three hand pumpers, hose reels, uniforms, bunker gear, photographs, documents, and various other firefighting equipment. These artifacts offer a comprehensive glimpse into the evolution of firefighting technology and service in the region.
Activities and Membership
The museum and organization host monthly meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm, welcoming members and interested individuals to participate and contribute to preserving firefighting heritage. Membership is open to the public for a nominal fee, fostering community engagement and support for the preservation mission.

The core mission of the Wilmot Heritage Fire Brigades is to safeguard the firefighting history of Wilmot Township by restoring and maintaining historical artifacts and promoting public awareness and education about firefighting heritage. The organization relies on community support and donations to sustain its preservation efforts and to manage the museum, located in Baden, Ontario.
