Established as a registered charity under the Canada Revenue Agency, the Trust manages the Maplewood Flats Conservation Area in North Vancouver, British Columbia, and operates programs centered on ecological stewardship, cultural reconciliation, and environmental outreach.

Maplewood Flats Conservation Area
The Trust’s primary stewardship site, Maplewood Flats, spans 126 hectares (310 acres) along Burrard Inlet. Notable initiatives include the "Return of the Osprey" Festival, a biennial event celebrating migratory osprey nesting at the site[^5^].

Mission and Activities
The Trust’s mission focuses on providing sanctuary for wild birds through habitat protection, ecological restoration, and community engagement. Activities include:

  • Restoration projects led by volunteers to enhance native plant and wildlife habitats[^1^][^4^].
  • Educational programs for schools and private groups, emphasizing environmental awareness and Indigenous cultural practices[^3^][^5^].
  • Partnerships with local organizations to promote reconciliation and sustainable land use[^1^][^3^].

As a registered charity, the Trust relies on donations and grants to fund its conservation efforts. Its work aligns with broader initiatives to protect avian biodiversity in British Columbia’s coastal ecosystems[^3^][^5^].
