Parkland College (Business Registration Number: 132615428RR0001) was a Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational and community development services within Saskatchewan. The college acted as a catalyst for change, aiming to improve lives, communities, and industry—one learner at a time.
Overview
Before its merger, Parkland College offered a variety of educational programs including university degrees, skills training diplomas and certificates, trades training, high school upgrading, employability programs, safety training, and corporate/professional development. The college served multiple communities, emphasizing access to quality learning opportunities tailored to regional economic and social needs.
Merger and Rebranding
In 2023, Parkland College officially merged with Cumberland College to form Suncrest College, marking a significant transformation in the provision of post-secondary education in the region. This merger expanded the geographic and programmatic reach of the institution, creating a larger network of campuses across Saskatchewan, including locations in Canora, Esterhazy, Fort Qu’Appelle, Kamsack, Melfort, Melville, Nipawin, Tisdale, and Yorkton.
The consolidation aimed to strengthen the capacity to deliver diverse programming and better support the province’s growing economy by recruiting and retaining more students. The merged institution employed approximately 280 specialized professionals, enhancing the quality and breadth of educational services available to learners throughout the expanded region.
Mission
Prior to the merger, Parkland College’s mission was to act as a catalyst for positive change by serving learners, communities, and industries. This mission highlights the institution’s focus on lifelong learning and community engagement to foster economic and social development.
This history reflects Parkland College’s integral role in Saskatchewan’s educational landscape before its transition into Suncrest College, which continues to build on its legacy of accessible and adaptive education programs.
