The Soup Kitchen - The Soup Kitchen The Soup Kitchen Over 40 Years Feeding Community On Friday November 12 1982 founders Murray and Edna Black opened in the basement of St. Andrews Cathedral to welcome hungry residents in need of a haven to be nourished without judgement. Today 43 years later their fierce dedication to making a difference in the lives of those in need continues as a comfort and in some instances a lifeline for the downtown community. Our Story Community Nourishment Since 1982 After watching 2 men digging in a dumpster founders Murray and Edna Black opened The Soup Kitchen on November 12 1982.
