Lions Homes for Deaf People

Lions Homes for Deaf People (LHDP) is a Canadian nonprofit organization established by Multiple District "A" of Lions International. It operates as a committee comprising Lions, Lionesses, and interested individuals dedicated to improving the lives of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in Ontario, Canada.

Mandate and Evolution

Initially, LHDP focused on providing homes for children attending provincial schools for the deaf in Belleville, Milton, and London. Over time, the organization adapted its mandate to support individuals of all ages who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, including those with additional exceptionalities such as blindness and developmental disabilities.

Projects and Initiatives

LHDP has been involved in several notable projects:

• Canadian Hearing Society: In 2014, they contributed to the purchase of Mobile Communication & Access Center Kits in Toronto.
• Lions Martin House (London): Also established in 2014, this project reflects the organization's commitment to supporting the deaf community.
• Glebe Centre Inc. (Ottawa): In 2015, LHDP supported long-term care services for deaf-blind seniors.
