The Quintessential Vocal Ensemble Corporation, operating as the Quintessential Vocal Ensemble (QVE), is a Canadian nonprofit choral organization renowned for its exceptional performances and diverse repertoire.

History

Founded in 1993 by Susan Quinn and alumni of the Holy Heart of Mary High School Chamber Choir, QVE began as a community choir in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. It has since grown to become one of Canada's most accomplished choral groups.

Membership and Performance Style

QVE brings together more than 80 singers, including instrumentalists, music teachers, students, and professionals from various fields, united by their passion for eclectic and engaging choral music. The ensemble is particularly noted for its a cappella performances, which span multiple styles and periods. Additionally, QVE has collaborated on major classical works and stage productions.

QVE has garnered significant recognition with over 20 awards in national and international competitions. Notable achievements include wins at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod in Wales, the Florilège Vocal de Tours in France, the Cork International Choral Festival in Ireland, Choral Canada's National Choir Competition, and the National Music Festival of Canada.
