Bragg Creek Performing Arts Society

The Bragg Creek Performing Arts Society, a registered not-for-profit charity with the Business Registration Number 830313284RR0001, is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to presenting quality concerts and performances in Bragg Creek, Alberta, Canada. Established in 1980, the society has been enriching the community with a diverse range of live music events.

History

Since its inception, Bragg Creek Performing Arts Society has hosted a variety of performances. Initially, the organization presented its first musical play on a rented stage set up in a large tent over the Bragg Creek hockey rink. In 1981, they moved to the Elkana Ranch, where they utilized a barn for free, allowing them to keep ticket prices affordable at $12. Over time, the society built its own stage, nicknamed "The Beast," which remains in use today for specific performances during events like Bragg Creek Days. "The Beast" earned its name not only due to its weight but also for its resilience through fire and floods.

Activities and Events

The society's events showcase professional entertainers across different genres, offering a rich cultural experience to the community. They often host dinner concerts, providing an intimate setting for audiences to enjoy live music alongside a meal. Recent events have included performances by renowned artists such as Cassie & Maggie, a celebrated folk music duo from Nova Scotia, and award-winning singer-songwriters like Giles, inspired by artists such as Maren Morris and Kacey Musgraves.

Mission and Organization

Run entirely by volunteers, the Bragg Creek Performing Arts Society aims to bring the community together through live music and cultural events. Its mission is to foster appreciation for the arts by providing accessible and engaging performances in an intimate setting, promoting a sense of community and cultural enrichment.

Impact

Through its efforts, Bragg Creek Performing Arts Society has become a beloved part of local life, with many community members volunteering and attending the events. The organization's commitment to presenting diverse talents contributes to the vibrant cultural landscape of Bragg Creek, offering residents and visitors alike the opportunity to experience a wide range of musical styles in an engaging and intimate environment.
