The organization currently serves more than 200 individuals through its diverse programs and services.
Mission and Philosophy
OCL is committed to fostering self-development, self-determination, and community inclusion for adults with developmental disabilities. It employs a Person Centered Approach (PCA), which focuses on individualized services tailored to each person's culture, beliefs, and personal goals rather than standardized processes. Programs and Services
The organization offers four core programs:
- Residential Homes: Providing supportive living arrangements for adults who require varying levels of care.

- Supported-Independent Living (SIL): Helping participants live as independently as possible with appropriate supports.
- Day Support Program: Offering daytime activities and social opportunities that encourage skill development and community interaction.
These programs support people with a range of disabilities, including Down Syndrome, Autism, Asperger Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), dual diagnosis, and other disorders such as bipolar disorder, seizure disorders, psychotic disorders, and anxiety-related conditions. OCL also supports individuals who are blind, deaf, or non-verbal.
Community and Partnerships
As a nonprofit, OCL works collaboratively with families, civic-minded corporations, generous donors, and the Province of Ontario to ensure financial sustainability and high-quality care for its participants. The organization emphasizes building interdependent relationships within the Ottawa community to foster inclusion and connection.
Leadership
The organization is led by an executive director, with Jocelyne Paul noted in this role, overseeing its operations and strategic direction.
Strategic Direction
OCL’s strategic business plan for 2019-2024 centers around the theme "Better Communities," reflecting its ongoing commitment to enhancing community integration and improving the lives of people with developmental disabilities.
Recognition
