Urban Native Youth Association

The Urban Native Youth Association (UNYA) is a Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting urban Indigenous youth. Founded in 1988, it operates primarily in Metro Vancouver, providing a wide range of services and programs.

Mission and Focus

UNYA's mission is to empower Indigenous youth by offering culturally responsive and prevention-focused programs. These programs support young people in exploring their personal goals in education, employment, culture, and life, all within a safe and supportive environment. UNYA aims to be a haven for Indigenous youth to discover opportunities and resources both within the organization and the broader community.

Programs and Services

The organization delivers more than 20 programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of Indigenous youth, including those identifying as Aboriginal, MΓ©tis, Inuit, First Nations, Status, and Non-Status. With over 175 volunteers and 100 staff members, along with more than 300 community partners, UNYA has established itself as a significant force in community development for Indigenous youth. Its operations reflect a commitment to celebrating and amplifying the voices of young Indigenous people.
