June 21st is National Indigenous Peoples Day, and Carefor recognizes it as an opportunity to honour the past and present contributions of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. As an agency which provides care and support from the border of Algonquin Park to Quebec, Carefor not only operates on the unceded traditional territory of many Indigenous Peoples but we are also made up of and support a wide range of Indigenous Peoples, each with their own unique and rich cultures and history. As a healthcare organization, we recognize the damage that has been done to Indigenous Peoples throughout Canada's history, which is still being felt, and we are committed to being part of the solution towards building a country and community where everyone feels equally respected and supported.
