This summer, nine-year-old Dulce is discovering a world that looks quite different from her home in Colombia. Through our School’s Out Summer Literacy Program, funded by United Way BC Dulce is making new friends, enjoying her first visit to a firehall, and savoring sweet treats like ice cream, all while building language skills and confidence. “I have gone to many parks, to the pool, to share and play with children who speak another language and have other cultures different from me.
