Pacific Centre Family Services Association
The Pacific Centre Family Services Association (PCFSA) is a Canadian nonprofit organization registered under the Canada Revenue Agency with the business registration number 119075372RR0001. Founded in 1968, PCFSA is dedicated to improving the quality and dignity of life for families and individuals across South Vancouver Island, with a primary focus on the West Shore and Sooke regions.
Mission and Services
PCFSA provides a comprehensive range of counselling and social services, including programs for isolated seniors, individuals addressing family violence, youth outreach, and family and couples counselling. They also offer substance use counselling, mental health counselling, and trauma therapy. The organization's services are designed to foster healthy patterns of living and promote respect for cultural and human diversity.
Community Health Centre Services
In addition to its counselling services, PCFSA operates the Westshore Community Health Centre. This multidisciplinary centre offers low-barrier, trauma-informed primary healthcare to underserved populations through a team of family physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and other allied healthcare providers.
Community Impact
PCFSA serves approximately 2000 residents annually from across the Capital Regional District. With projections indicating significant population growth in the West Shore area, the organization is expanding its capacity to reduce wait times for supportive services.
Funding and Accessibility
While many of PCFSA's services are free, their Community Counselling program offers clinical counselling on a sliding scale fee to ensure accessibility for those who do not qualify for provincially funded programs. Fees can be covered by Extended Health Benefits or other assistance programs. As a registered charity, donations are vital for PCFSA to continue its mission and expand services in response to community needs.
