Established during the darkest hours of the Bosnian war (1992-1995), the BCRA initially focused on delivering vital supplies such as food, clothing, medicine, and medical equipment to victims of the conflict. As hostilities subsided, their efforts expanded to supporting orphans, establishing soup kitchens, and implementing an annual Qurbani meat distribution program. They also played a role in aiding refugees in their return and reconstruction efforts.

Notably, they provided assistance to Indonesia following the devastating 2004 tsunami, supported Pakistan after the 2005 Kashmir earthquake, and offered aid to Gaza in the aftermath of the humanitarian crisis that began in January 2009.
