Columbia Bible College

Columbia Bible College is a private evangelical Mennonite institution located in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. It is affiliated with the British Columbia Mennonite Brethren and the Mennonite Church British Columbia.

History

The college began as the South Abbotsford Mennonite Brethren Bible School, established in 1936 within the South Abbotsford M.B. Church. In 1939, Rev. N.W. Bahnman announced the opening of another Mennonite-related Bible school at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Coghlan (now Aldergrove), offering tuition-free classes. This initiative was initially taught by three instructors without pay. Over the years, the institution underwent significant changes. In the early 1940s, a society managed the school until the Conference of Mennonites in British Columbia assumed full responsibility in 1944. The school eventually merged with the Mennonite Brethren Bible Institute to form Columbia Bible Institute, which later became Columbia Bible College.
