Location and Facilities

Located in north-central Saskatchewan, approximately 18 km south of Prince Albert, the Learning Centre spans 457 acres. The facilities consist of 250 acres of annually cropped land, as well as sections dedicated to forage production, dense nesting cover, shelterbelts, a woodlot, and other ecological features like riparian areas and biomass plantations.

Research and Activities

The Centre serves as a field laboratory where federal, provincial, university, and private institutions conduct research and evaluate new agricultural technologies. It focuses on demonstrating soil and water conservation technologies on a farm scale, showcasing new agricultural practices and technologies to local producers. Each year, the Centre undertakes a mix of long- and short-term projects that highlight conservation practices and innovative farming methods.

Educational Programs

Saskatchewan Conservation Learning Centre offers educational experiences for students from Grades 1 through 12; these programs correspond with the Saskatchewan provincial science curricula, emphasizing environmental conservation, agriculture, and wildlife. Since its inception, the CLC School Program has engaged over 31,000 students in hands-on outdoor activities, fostering a connection with nature and fostering environmental awareness.

Funding and Support

As a registered charity, the Saskatchewan Conservation Learning Centre relies on donations, partnerships, and sponsorships to support its research projects and educational programs. The Centre's charitable status allows donors to contribute towards these initiatives while receiving tax benefits.
