The facilities consist of 250 acres of annually cropped land, as well as sections dedicated to forage production, dense nesting cover, shelterbelts, a woodlot, and other ecological features like riparian areas and biomass plantations.
Research and Activities
The Centre serves as a field laboratory where federal, provincial, university, and private institutions conduct research and evaluate new agricultural technologies. It focuses on demonstrating soil and water conservation technologies on a farm scale, showcasing new agricultural practices and technologies to local producers. Each year, the Centre undertakes a mix of long- and short-term projects that highlight conservation practices and innovative farming methods.
Educational Programs
Saskatchewan Conservation Learning Centre offers educational experiences for students from Grades 1 through 12; these programs correspond with the Saskatchewan provincial science curricula, emphasizing environmental conservation, agriculture, and wildlife. Since its inception, the CLC School Program has engaged over 31,000 students in hands-on outdoor activities, fostering a connection with nature and fostering environmental awareness.
