Cochrane Temiskaming Resource Centre

The Cochrane Temiskaming Resource Centre (CTRC) is a Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering comprehensive support, services, programs, and resources to children and adults with developmental disabilities. It also extends support to their families, schools, and other community agencies within the Cochrane and Temiskaming districts of Ontario.

Mission and Services

CTRC's primary mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities by promoting inclusion and providing tailored programs that meet their unique needs. Some of the key services offered include:

  • Day programs for individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Residential services
  • Passport community participation services
  • Community support services
  • Family home program
  • Infant Development Program, which serves infants from birth to school entry who are at risk
  • Psychological services
  • Speech and language services

The organization also sponsors the Infant Development Program, emphasizing early intervention for infants at risk, from birth until school entry.

Organizational Structure

CTRC operates as a regional service provider governed by a voluntary Board of Governors representing the districts of Cochrane and Temiskaming. It functions as a Transfer Payment Agency and receives full funding from the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS).

Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) acts as the access point for adult developmental services funded by MCCSS, with CTRC facilitating referrals for children and infant services within its service area.

Community Engagement and Vision

CTRC is committed to fostering community inclusion, guided by the long-term vision of the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services to support people with developmental disabilities in living lives of their choice and belonging fully in their communities.

Governance and Leadership

The Centre is managed by an Executive Director and supported by a team dedicated to delivering quality services and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities. The Board of Governors oversees the strategic direction and governance of the organization.

Geographic Reach

CTRC primarily serves the districts of Cochrane and Temiskaming in northern Ontario, with satellite offices to ensure accessibility and local presence across the region.

The organization continues to adapt and redevelop its services to meet the evolving needs of the community it serves, ensuring responsive and inclusive support for people with developmental disabilities and their families.
