Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society
The Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society (WECAS) is a Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to providing child protection services and support to children and families in Essex County, Ontario. Established in 1899, it is one of the long-standing institutions in the region focused on enhancing family well-being.
Purpose and Mandate
WECAS operates under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, 2017 (CYFSA), with a primary mandate to investigate allegations of child abuse and neglect, while providing protective services to ensure the safety and well-being of children and youth. The Society is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who oversee its mission and objectives.

WECAS offers a range of services designed to support families and children in need:

Eligibility and Programs
The services are available to children from birth to 18 years old and their families. Additionally, young adults aged 18 to 23 years can access support through the Ready Set Go Program.
Governance and Operations
The Society relies on a diverse team of staff and the support of foster homes and volunteers to deliver its services. It is funded through the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.
