It operates primarily in the regions of Delta, Surrey, White Rock, and Langley, British Columbia. Established in 1959, the society is dedicated to supporting children with support needs and their families, ensuring an environment that fosters inclusive and accessible development opportunities.
Purpose and Mission
REACH emphasizes the potential and uniqueness of every child, focusing on recognizing each child's strengths and developing their abilities. This approach involves working closely with families to ensure that children are empowered and supported in their development. Programs are designed to be family-centered, ensuring that children receive comprehensive support from birth through age 25.
Programs and Services
The organization offers a variety of programs designed to meet the physical, social, emotional, language, and cognitive needs of children. REACH Developmental Preschools, for instance, provide emergent programs that stimulate children's development. Additionally, REACH works with children who have autism and other special needs, creating tailored services to support their growth and integration into society.
Impact and Funding
REACH annually supports over 1,000 children and their families. The organization relies on donations and volunteering efforts to maintain its operations and expand its services. As a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency, donations to REACH are eligible for tax receipts.
Community Engagement
REACH engages with the community through various events, including an annual gala, which helps raise funds and awareness for its mission. They also participate in local events like Ladner May Days and operate a children's thrift shop, where volunteers can contribute to ongoing support efforts.
