Friends of Elk Island Society Photo by Cam Kennedy About the Friends In 1984 a group of engaged citizens in Alberta formed a cooperative association here in Elk Island National Park. That year The Friends of Elk Island Society was born. We are a nonprofit charitable organization working closely and collaboratively with Parks Canada. We promote understanding appreciation and respect for the unique landscape of Elk Island National Park and the Beaver Hills Biosphere.
